Temporary housing · a month or longer
Temporary housing in Charlotte, for however long the gap turns out to be.
Nobody looks for temporary housing because they want to move twice. Something has happened — a job, a sale, a fire, a renovation, a separation — and there is a gap between where you were and where you are going. This is a whole furnished townhome for that gap, from 30 nights, with no twelve-month lease at the end of it.
5.0from 26 stays on AirbnbThe situations this is usually for
Each of these turns up here regularly, and each one needs something slightly different. Say which is yours on the application and we will answer for that situation rather than in general.
- You have moved for work and not signed a lease yet
- Living in the city for a few months before committing to a neighbourhood is the cheapest housing decision most people never make. Take 90 nights, learn the place, then sign somewhere you actually chose.
- The house sold faster than the next one closed
- The classic 60-to-90 day gap. Furnished means the container can go straight to storage rather than being unpacked twice.
- A renovation has made your own house unliveable
- Kitchens and floors overrun. Extending here is the same rate with no new application, which matters when your contractor says “two more weeks” for the third time.
- An insurance claim has displaced you
- Fire, water or storm damage, with the carrier covering additional living expense. We invoice the carrier directly — see the insurance placements page.
- A work assignment or project posting
- Three bedrooms houses a crew of three on one agreement and one invoice, instead of three hotel folios.
- A separation, or any month you did not plan for
- No twelve-month commitment, no credit-score threshold, thirty days’ notice to leave. We will not ask why.
Why the answer is rarely a hotel past about three weeks
A hotel is the right answer for a fortnight and the wrong one for a quarter, and the crossover is not really about the nightly rate. It is that a hotel room has no kitchen, so you eat out for ninety days; no laundry, so you are feeding coins into a machine down the hall; and no second bedroom, so a family is booking two rooms and a partition.
It is also that lodging tax never stops. North Carolina charges 16.25% in combined sales and occupancy tax on accommodation and exempts stays of 90 or more continuous days entirely. A hotel keeps charging it on night 200. Cross the 90-night line here and it comes off the whole stay.
If your gap really is under 30 nights, take the hotel. That is our minimum and we would rather say so than take a booking that does not suit you.

What makes a temporary month bearable
The things that stop a stay feeling like camping in someone else’s house.
- A real kitchen
- Full-size appliances, cookware, dishes — cook properly from night one
- Laundry in the unit
- Not in a basement, not coin-operated
- A private bedroom each
- Three of them, and effectively a bathroom each at 3.5 baths
- Somewhere to work
- A dedicated workspace and wifi that holds a video call all day
- Outdoor space
- A private rooftop terrace, which no apartment at this price gives you
- Your car handled
- Private 2-car garage with a level 2 EV charger
- Pets welcome
- Up to two. Displacement is hard enough without rehoming the dog
Questions
- How short can a temporary stay be?
- Thirty nights. Below that a hotel genuinely serves you better and we will say so rather than take the booking.
- What if I do not know how long I need?
- Most people do not. Book the length you expect and extend at the same rate with no new application — we also hold the place for thirty days past your end date while you find out.
- Can I leave early if my plans change?
- Thirty days’ written notice and you are out clean. No early-termination penalty.
- Is there a credit check or an income requirement?
- No credit-score threshold. Every adult staying verifies their ID and we ask where you are working. That is the whole screen.
- Will my employer or insurer be invoiced directly?
- Yes, either. We issue an itemised monthly invoice with a W-9 on file, so you are not fronting the rent and expensing it back.
- Can I store things here?
- Within reason — there is a two-car garage and the house has real storage. Tell us what you are bringing and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
