Extended stay · 30 nights and up
An extended stay in Charlotte, in a house instead of a hotel room.
Charlotte’s extended-stay inventory is almost entirely one room with a kitchenette off a highway exit. This is the whole townhome — three bedrooms, three and a half baths, a real kitchen, in-unit laundry, a private garage and a rooftop terrace — let by the month.
5.0from 26 stays on AirbnbExtended-stay hotel room vs. this townhome
Both are furnished, both take stays measured in months, and that is where the similarity stops. Every row below is a fact about this property, not a claim about any particular hotel.
| Typical extended-stay room | Rooftop Townhome | |
|---|---|---|
| Space | One room, one bath | 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, whole house |
| Kitchen | Kitchenette — two burners, small fridge | Full kitchen, full-size appliances, cookware and dishes |
| Laundry | Coin machines down the hall | Washer and dryer in the unit |
| Parking | Shared surface lot | Private 2-car garage with a level 2 EV charger |
| Outdoor space | None | Private rooftop terrace |
| Pets | Often refused, or a per-night fee | Up to two, one pet fee, service animals free |
| Sharing the cost | One room — nobody to split with | Three bedrooms — about $1,650 each split two ways, $1,100 split three |
| Tax after 90 days | Varies; usually still taxed | Zero NC sales or occupancy tax — 16.25% comes off |
| Who you deal with | A front desk and a call centre | The owners, by name, by text |
The last two rows are the ones that decide it. A hotel room cannot be split three ways, and it does not stop charging you lodging tax at day 91.
What an extended stay here actually costs
The whole house is $3,300 a month, dropping to $3,100 if you take it for six months or longer. The rate does not change with a shorter stay — what changes is the tax, because North Carolina stops charging lodging tax at 90 nights and a shorter stay pays 16.25% on top.
One setup fee of $250 at move-in covers the deep clean and the linen set. Electricity, water, gas and wifi are in the rent. There is no deposit to a power company, no installation appointment, and no bill arriving three weeks after you have left.
Split on one agreement, the whole house is about $1,650 each between two people, or $1,100 each between three — for a private bedroom and, with three and a half baths, effectively a private bathroom each.
The 90-day line, and why day 91 is cheaper than day 85
North Carolina charges 8.25% sales and use tax plus 8% Mecklenburg County room occupancy tax on accommodation — 16.25% in total. It exempts rentals to the same person for 90 or more continuous days from both.
That produces a genuinely strange result worth planning around: a 91-night stay costs less in total than an 85-night stay at the same rate. If your dates are anywhere near that line, move them across it. The quote on the booking form shows which side you are on and what crossing would save.
A standard 13-week assignment is 91 nights, so it clears the line by a day without anyone having to think about it.

Questions
- Do you have weekly rates?
- No. The minimum stay is 30 nights. Anything shorter is a different product with different economics, and the honest answer is that an extended-stay hotel will beat us on a one-week stay.
- What are your monthly rates?
- $3,300 a month, or $3,100 if you take it for six months or longer. Utilities and wifi are included either way. A stay under 90 nights pays the same rate plus 16.25% NC lodging tax; at 90 nights and over that tax disappears.
- Is it pet friendly?
- Yes — up to two pets, with one pet fee for the stay rather than a nightly charge. Service animals are always welcome at no cost.
- Can I extend if my plans change?
- Yes, at the same rate, with no new application and nothing about the agreement restarting. We also hold your room for 30 days past your end date while you find out whether you are staying.
- Is there a credit check?
- We ask for ID verification from every adult staying and for where you are working. There is no credit-score threshold to clear.
